About Us
Formerly The Better Pharmacare Coalition, the Medicines Access Coalition has been effectively advocating for appropriate and timely access to evidence-based prescription medications through the BC PharmaCare program since 1997. In 2020 the coalition formally changed its name to The Medicines Access Coalition, sometimes known as MedAccessBC, and we have since expanded our scope and activities to meet the needs of our over coalition members, focusing on the issues of access to medicines facing the people of BC.
Together we are raising awareness of medicine access issues, providing training and education to our members (and non-members), developing resources, delivering stakeholder activities, conducting research, providing education, supporting our members’ activities, and are active in advocacy. We work collectively towards maintaining and improving access to medications, medical technologies, and medical devices and ensuring that health policy decisions focus on patient needs and outcomes. We represent a strong and unified patient voice safeguarding the health and well-being of patients, that health outcomes are prioritized, and that the pursuit of cost containment does not cause harm to people when it comes to decisions on medicines.
Our Vision: To achieve fair, equitable, and timely access to medicines for the people of BC.

Our Mission: To be a significant resource to non-profit and charitable patient organization members and to advocate together for improved access to safe and effective medicines.
