As a MedAccessBC Member, your organization will benefit from the following:

Be part of a group focused on access to medicines having a unified voice on key issues and interests.

Working together to reduce workload, duplication and costs on relevant issues.

Receive updates and relevant information on issues related to access to medicines.

Receive resources and support from MedAccessBC and other members to gain insight, knowledge, education, tools, and other information which will help you and your organization in advocating for access to medicines for your organization’s disease or conditions focus.

Be part of a large collective group who are like-minded and advocating for the health of people to identify gaps, barriers, options and solutions related to access to medicines.

Coming together as coalition to be more visible and be heard by decision makers and policy makers.

Be included in bilateral meetings and other official meetings with policy makers, government, and stakeholders (eg. Pharmaceutical, Laboratory and Blood Services Division [BC PharmaCare], Innovative Medicines Canada, Political Leaders, etc.).
Member Criteria
Medicines Access Coalition – BC is comprised of non-profit and charitable patient organizations that support its mission and goals.

Qualifying members must meet the following criteria:​
Incorporated or unincorporated organizations that demonstrate good governance through formalized documentation (e.g., registered charity or not-for-profit status, Terms of Reference) Members actively support the specific mission and goals of MedAccess BC, as demonstrated and documented in how the member sees fit Provincial or national in the scope of advocacy, have issues and activities relevant to the mission and goals of MedAccessBC, or are considered a regional umbrella group for organizations engaged on relevant issues Duties and Responsibilities Each member organization is entitled to one vote at members’ meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Members must engage and participate in working group and/or committees from time to time which are focused on initiatives and projects that advance and improve access to medicines. Good Standing Generally, all members are in good standing unless the Board Chair has provided written notice to the member declaring otherwise. At least once a year, members must declare, either verbally or in writing, their continued interest to remain a member of MedAccessBC. If membership fees are required for the year, members must pay the membership fee for the current year before the next AGM to be in good standing and granted a vote during the event. At this time, there is no membership fee to join MedAccessBC. Adoption and Enforcement Any misconduct or non-adherence to the MedAccess principles stated above as well as opposition to the goals and objectives of MedAccessBC will be reviewed by the Board of Directors. Representation When communicating on issues in a public format (including online platforms) that mention, or are related to, MedAccess BC, members must not speak on behalf of MedAccessBC unless authorized to do so. You or your organization must clarify who is being represented or if comments are personal views. This clarification should be made verbally or in writing, as appropriate. Public formats include, but are not limited to, stakeholder consultations, one-on-one or group meetings, conferences, public documents, interviews, and online articles. Should members wish to represent the Coalition, they must first gain permission from the Board of Directors.
